Hunan Provincial Museum Launched 2016-2020 Development Plan

In December 2016, Hunan Provincial Museum launched its 2016-2020 development plan officially. The plan outlines the strategic plan system in five years and makes clear the missions and directions of the museum in the period of China’s 13th Five-Year plan.
Based on the assessment and summary of the present situation of Hunan Province and several important documents including MUSEUM REGULATIONS released by the State Council, RECOMMENDATION CONCERNING THE PROTECTION AND PROMOTION OF MUSEUMS AND COLLECTIONS, THEIR DIVERSITY AND THEIR ROLE IN SOCIETY adopted in the 38th UNESCO conference, the Plan, consisting of general introduction, orientation and mission, vision, milestones, implementation of goals and safeguard measures, studies key issues in the development and fully considers the actual demands and long-term development at the same time, which will become the basic guidelines of all the tasks of the museum in five years.
According to the Plan, the new buildings of Hunan Provincial Museum will be completed and opened to the public in 2017, and is expected to receive 3million visitors every year. The following exhibitions will be staged:two permanent exhibitions “Mawangdui Han Tombs” and “Hunan People”, four special exhibitions including “Bronze wares”, “Ceramics”, “Arts and crafts” and “Paintings and calligraphies”, and two temporary exhibitions including “Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period” and “The Trans-cultural Exchanges and Interactions between Italy and China in the 14th Century to the16th Century.”
The period of 2016-2020 is a critical period for the development of Hunan Provincial Museum. Guided by the plan and taking the overall situation into consideration, Hunan Provincial Museum will follow the directions of provincial and national governments, take in new experience and achievements, and accelerate the building of a public service system for the purpose of building a professional and creative museum for the public.

In order to provide more cultural feasts to Changsha citizens, Hunan Provincial Museum, now at the critical period of its expansion and reconstruction project, have cooperated with the Dahexi Pilot District Planning Exhibition Center to launch “The Exhibition of Mawangdui Han Tombs” on the first floor of the Dahexi Exhibition Center since March 29, 2014, which will last throughout the year for free. And some other exhibitions will be also held at the third floor. Please stay tuned for further updates in our website.

Hunan Provincial Museum Hosted "Dingsheng Dongting" Cup Design Competition (Museum Uniforms)

To present new images in preparation for the 2017 reopening, the Hunan Provincial Museum hosted “Dingsheng Dongting(meaning the prosperity of the Hunan Province)”Cup Design Competition for museum uniforms. Participants came from Hunan, Beijing, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Jilin, Dalian, Shandong, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangxi,and Guangdong in addition with competitors from California. Until the deadline in November 18th, 2016, the Committee of the Competition had received more than hundreds of works.
On the morning of November 30th, the Hunan Provincial Museum hosted the first round selection of“Dingsheng Dongting” Cup Design Competation. Professor Chen Geng, dean of Industry and Design Department of the Hunan Normal University,and other four experts were invited as judges of the first round selection. Based on principles of openness and fairness, judges valued the works considering practical, aesthetical, and cultural principles, in addition with the work’s creativeness, technique, and material. The judges selected 12 outstanding works for the final round competition.
Starting from December 1st, the Hunan Provincial Museum’s official Wechat account will open an online poll for the final selected 12 works for the Audiences’ Favorite Work Award. The Hunan Provincial Museum will also host Final Competition and select Gold Award, Silver Award, and Online Participation Lucky Award.

Bright Vision of Hunan Museum, Phoenix over Clouds, Lotus Charm, Reminiscing the Former Estate Garden, Hanfu Charm, Affection of Hunan, Gathering at Hunan, Classic Redesigned, Pure Lotus, Magnificent Work in a Great Historical Period, Hunan, Watchman, Books and Flutes in Hunan, New Museum’s Image, Charm of Hunan, Textile Printing and Coloring, The Purple Air Comes from East, Dream, Dark Ink and Light Color, Swallow Coming Back, Memories, True Qualities of Revolution, and Blue Dream.
